By the end of this lesson, students will:
We live in a world filled with temptation, compromise, and ungodly influences. Everywhere we turn, society encourages self-gratification, moral relativism, and independence from God. Yet, God calls His people to be different. Salvation is not simply an event; it is a lifestyle. Christians are called to live holy lives that reflect Christ even while surrounded by a carnal culture.
The challenge is not merely getting saved but staying faithful and growing spiritually while living among people and systems that often oppose God's will.
The Apostle Paul wrote Romans to believers living in the powerful and morally corrupt city of Rome. Christians there faced pressure from both pagan culture and religious opposition. Paul's instruction in Romans 12 was practical: believers were to present themselves as living sacrifices and refuse to be shaped by the world's values.
Today, the challenge remains the same. While culture changes, God's standards do not. The believer must learn how to live saved in a carnal world.

Salvation does not make us sinless, but it does call us to pursue holiness. The believer must intentionally avoid behaviors, attitudes, and habits that dishonor God.

Living saved in a carnal world is not easy, but it is possible through the power of the Holy Spirit. God calls His people to stand apart from worldly influences, walk in love, and continually grow in spiritual maturity. As believers refrain from sin, love God and their neighbors, and mature in their faith, they become living testimonies of God's transforming grace.
The goal is not merely to survive in a carnal world but to represent Christ faithfully within it.
Heavenly Father, thank You for saving us and calling us to live holy lives. Help us to refrain from sin, to love You with all our hearts, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Strengthen us through Your Holy Spirit to grow into mature believers who reflect the character of Jesus Christ. Help us not to conform to the world but to be transformed by Your Word every day. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
