Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Dora’s Story

Dora set a schedule time for herself to meet with God: daily—before 12:00 noon—Prayer, Scripture Reading, and Journaling.

This was the schedule she laid out for herself. The first day was a little uncomfortable, felt a little off, but went okay.

But each time it was or felt off. On the 5th day, Dora was convinced that this schedule was not going to work. It was a bad schedule. It seemed as if the hardest thing for her to do was to get in her private prayer room before 12 noon.

On the days that she did, she was so distracted by phone calls, the doorbell, and all kinds of little things.

So, in the midst of this, Dora thought maybe she should change that schedule. But then she began to think:

“Am I breaking a vow I made?”

So she asked the following questions and wants our help in getting answers.

4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.

5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.

6 Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?
